This summer the Wilhelminaplein in Kralendijk will once again be the scene of a special culinary spectacle. Pasta e Basta, the popular musical dinner concept from Amsterdam, returns to Bonaire, and bigger than ever! Starting July 4, the event will take place every weekend for six weeks at Cuba Compagnie Bonaire. A unique opportunity to enjoy Italian food, live singing and unforgettable atmosphere for several evenings.
A proven recipe of music and taste
Pasta e Basta has been a household name in Amsterdam for 30 years. At this iconic restaurant, you’ll be served by professional singers who perform live between courses, often just a meter away from your table. From Italian arias to modern pop music and musical numbers: no evening is the same. Previous editions on Bonaire sold out very quickly.
The cooperation between Pasta e Basta and Cuba Compagnie Bonaire proves to be a hit every time. Located at the bustling Wilhelminaplein, Cuba Compagnie forms the perfect backdrop for a sultry Caribbean evening full of taste and experience.
For the first time: 6 weeks long, every weekend
Pasta e Basta has been happily coming to Bonaire for ten years and in that time has built up a loyal fan base. What makes this edition extra special is its length: from Friday, July 4 through Saturday, August 10, the concept will be organized for the first time six weeks in a row, each time on Friday and Saturday nights. Each evening will feature a specially composed Italian menu with a Caribbean twist, live performances and a festive atmosphere that you will only find at Pasta e Basta.
Experience an evening of surprise and atmosphere
Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner, an outing with friends or a special vacation memory, Pasta e Basta at Cuba Compagnie guarantees an evening that stimulates all the senses. Due to limited capacity, early reservations are recommended.
What began as a spontaneous idea in 2015 has grown into a beloved tradition. Jolijn, one of the driving forces behind Pasta e Basta, explains how the adventure began on Bonaire: “We have been performing internationally since the beginning, because the concept of singing ministry is performed almost nowhere else in this way. After performing on Curaçao, I approached Huub from Cuba Compagnie to do the same on Bonaire. That was in 2015, and we’ve been coming back here twice a year ever since.”
According to the Pasta e Basta team, Bonaire is ideally suited for this concept. “You bring all the right ingredients together here: good food, versatile music, a warm atmosphere and a tropical climate. That makes the experience complete.” The cooperation with Cuba Compagnie also feels natural to them. “We have a common mission, which is to give our guests an unforgettable evening. Because that is paramount to both Cuba’s team and ours, it has worked very well for years.”
Performances on the square in Kralendijk have their own charm, Jolijn explains. “Performing outdoors is always special. In Amsterdam no night is the same, because we respond to the audience on the spot. We do the same on Bonaire. We build up the evening from listening music to a dance party and adjust the program to the atmosphere each time.”
After ten years, Pasta e Basta and Cuba Compagnie are inseparable on the island. “We see guests returning who faithfully book one or more nights every year. We are recognized in the days before the performances. It really lives on the island. And this edition is extra special: for six weeks, every other week a different team, a different musical program. So it remains surprising every night, even for those who come more often.”
